salt in the blood

A DOCUMENTARY CO-PRODUCTION BETWEEN CANON AUSTRALIA AND THE POOL COLLECTIVE, DIRECTED BY CHRISTOPHER IRELAND

For a time,Tom Carroll bathed in the echelon of the sporting elite. His talent as a young, tenacious surfer sent waves around the world and culminated in two world titles, quickly making Carroll a popular surfing icon.

What few people knew was that as competitive surfing moved him around the world, a youngTom Carroll was taking pictures. Lots of pictures.

Decades on, boxes of slides are reopened, as well as the memories embedded within them, as Carroll builds the confidence to share his intimate and unique perspective with a public audience for the first time.

Tom reflects on the periods of life he felt compelled to freeze. He must decide what to share, what to hold onto and what to make of his relationship with the ocean.
